The Dawn of Man

About this piece:

Inspired by Baroque drama, this painting portrays humanity's awakening, rising from the Earth disoriented while struggling under the weight of our own bodies. This is a timeless struggle we still face even today: who are we? How do we grapple with our existence as we are reborn each morning?

“The Dawn of Man” represents our daily stumblings as analogous to the awakening of mankind, trying to make sense of a world that is both ancient and constantly changing. Though we may lie to ourselves and say we understand this duality, most of us have yet to find our place amongst it. Everyday we rise from our beds searching for the perfect balance in our lives; if we are lucky enough to find it, our true inner light can finally shine.

My goal with this piece is to establish familiarity with you, the viewer, as we are and forever will be awakening in the dawn.
